Me and my mom and my grandmother are in Russia for vacation. ( yeah I know, not the best country there is. ) and now im all alone in our hotel room, my mom and my grandmother said they were going shopping for like 30 minutes. I just wanted to stay in the hotel room. They left around 7 and now its 12:56! Almost 1 in the morning! im a boy and im 14 years old, and theres no way im leaving this hotel room. Im crying right now and im scared out of my mind. What could have happened?! What should I do? And they left their phones in the hotel room because they were only going for 30 mins. I dont wanna start any drama here because my mom told me to not start any trouble with anybody or draw attention. So, what should I do? Does Russia even have a 911 or what? And im too scared to go into town by myself, I dont know the laws in Russia, is there some sort of curfew I should know of if I was to go into town? Im in Moscow, and I cant ask anyone for help because I dont know Russian.

Alright, so this year it’s my turn to pick my family’s vacation ( YEAH! ). Anyway, I’m having a hard time deciding where to go. Disney World is a no because we are going later this year. So here’s some more things you should no before you give ideas…..

-Mom is afraid of planes

Yep. So we need a good place to go.Going out of the country is not really a problem as long as it’s close to the US and not over the Atlantic or Pacific ocean ( So no Paris, China, Russia, nowhere like that). Um yep….I really want a type of relaxing, fun vacation, not some boring educational one. If you need more details just say that in your answer and I will post back a response!

Also, would you say it’s cheaper to fly or drive to Disney World from Pennsylvania?
Oh I am going in the summer it would be stupid to go now lol. And I also have a brother too so it would be 4 people

My mom and I are planning 2 trips for this year. We’re not sure where to go. I’ve been to the majority of Europe and want to go somewhere different and exotic. I’m 15, by the way. It would only be my mom and I, so we wouldn’t want to go anywhere dangerous unless we were with a safe tour guide.

here are some places I was thinking of.
the first trip would be over christmas, the second would be like, in april, during spring break.

Trans-Siberian Railway- expensive, but very exotic and i’d see lots of neat things. moscow-beijing via mongolia. but, i’m worried that days on a train without getting off would be too much.

Russia- we found a nice, inexpensive tour to moscow/st.petersburg during christmas that looked nice. but would it be too cold?

Peru/Macchu Picchu- we found a very inexpensive tour that looks nice, but it leaves december 18th and i’d miss 4 days of school. But i would love to go to Macchu Picchu.

Galapagos/Ecuador – we’ve always wanted to go there, and i’d have lots of photo taking opportunities. but a lot of the cruises around the islands have no hot water?

Iceland – i’d love to go there, but in december there isn’t enough light and it’s way too cold.

where do you think i should go? any other places you’d suggest?

PS, we are visiting my inlaws for the first time and will be staying at their house, so I don’t really need hotel tips.
UM, I said Russia, not France, and my husband is from there and speaks fluently. I also speak enough to get around.

I am looking for advice on the best months to go where (with an estimated travel range between January & August of 2009, as I have to finish my travel and be back in the US by beginning of August 4-5, 2009 at the latest), what things to pack for an extended trip, the best & safest, yet most reasonably priced hostels, inns, or hotels, and ways to get around within or between any particular locales,

Also, except for a 3 years of high school Spanish & a semester or so in college – a lot of which I have now forgotten, I am do not (yet!) speak the language(s) of any of the countries I’ll be visiting, so I will be taking along a talking translator with languages for most, if not all the countries I’m going to.

Nevertheless, I would still like to get some tips from anyone who is familiar with the above named countries, and can help me.
