Are you going to majors cities like Moscow or St. Petersburg? I think you will be okay in a metropolitan area...even though...you may find that the "skin heads" also flock to those areas as well. The only thing, if you are in a small town, make sure your with a group of people that you know very well, and dont venture off alone. In small towns you will find very nice people, but being black, you may stand out and draw attention. Some attention you might not want. I saw her facebook pics and it looks like she had a good time. But she was with other people and it was for some college program. I would not go, but that's just me. If you really wanna go, then go. Just make sure you know some locals before you go so you will not be alone, and get pepper spray and a pocket knife. When he found this out, it was like he found a missing relative in me! Suddenly I was 'allowed' to bunk with his sister. Russians are very traditional and big about family.
