My friend and I are on vacation from the U.S.A. She went to Russia to visit family and I’m in Israel visiting family. I really want to call her..we are best friends and talked on the phone everyday and I didn’t call her for the last month..because we left on June 21 and are coming back on August 15. I’m not allowed to call her because it costs $4 a minute..and I’m like..it’s only four dollars! And my mommy is all like: yes, but after 10 minutes of talking that’s $40. Then I rolled my eyes. Should I call my friend anyway?

Well, you can try calling her and asking if there are better and cheaper ways you can communicate with each other. Take enough time on the phone to have an agreement on how to talk to each other. Some ways can be through letters or email, or cell phones if you have them and can be usable in the areas you’re at. But the phone maybe the only option due to what’s going on in Israel.
