(Bert has a good answer.) Do it fast, because these things take time. Hope you will get your visas for Russia. Russia is quite interesting and exiting, so it´s not at all a bad idea to visit Russia. (I´m not Russian, but find the country well worth while visiting!) There is no taxes or other charges, if things haven´t changed since I was there. Hope you get your visas (I´m sure you do, if you start applying for them as soon as possible), enjoy your visit in Russia!
