Will I stand out if I go to Russia?

Eug asked:

I was born in Belarus. I’m mostly Jewish by blood but my grandmother was an ethnic Russian.

I want to go to Russia for a long vacation some time in the near future. I’m not just talking about Moscow or St. Petersburg, I’m talking about little towns along the Trans-Siberian railroad. I want to visit Omsk, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude, Chita, Vladivostok etc…

I am NOT religious. I **** religion in general, but I really **** Judaism as a religion. I’m very fascinated by the Russian Orthodoxy though…

I speak Russian fluently, and I can read and write. Though I do have an somewhat of an American accent, and I have trouble rolling R’s.

Will I stand out if I go to Russia? If it matters… ya ochen’ kulturniy :)

Thanks.
I’ve been told I look Albanian, French, Spanish, and especially Italian before hahaha, it pisses me off!
Вы чё? Какой антисимит? Не люблю Евреискую рилигиу просто. Сами Евреий нечего…

    No you wont stand out.

You won’t stand out you look very russian. Your pretty cute too!

No, you will not stand out. You look very much like Russian Jew. Russian or Belorussian people usually have blue eyes. Most Russian not religious too and nobody likes Judaism (especially in Siberia!) – so that may be helpful to you. The most important that you know the language. Not everyone is going to like you. What matters is if you like yourself. Good luck!

You do not look “Eastern European” or Russian as previous stooges have stated. You do look like many other Jews in Russia, however. Nonetheless, I do not believe that you would particularly “stand out” in Russia even though you’re obviously not of solid white Slavic stock. Don’t worry, you’re not the first self hating Jew…

I wonder what your standing out in Russia has got to do with your hatred for Judaism? Lookwise you won’t stand out lookwise, can’t say about your accent though.

Of course you will stand out. And not by your looks. 1)You don’t know local/current slang. 2) you have no clue how thing work so you will stick out while you figuring it out(culture/reactionary adjustment). 3) you probably are way too friendly and smiley to pass for native 4)Judging by the way you wright in Russian, you will have difficulty with language, especially in contest. Don’t forget, what you use with your family is very limited in topic and content. And so many other things.
Having said that, enjoy your travels, but be careful, have a good head on your shoulders, don’t take unnecessary risks.
